The Modern Institute promotes social integration through language teaching and training.

GOALS

We pursue our mission by striving to achieve these goals:

• increasing the integrative capacity of Bulgaria into the EU through promotion and development of modern English language education and pedagogy for Bulgarian learners and teachers;
• increasing economic and social status for disadvantaged and minority groups in Bulgaria through promotion and development of modern English language education and pedagogy for disadvantaged and minority learners and teachers;
• increasing the integrative capacity of Roma people into Bulgarian and EU society through promotion and development of modern English language education and pedagogy for Roma learners and teachers;
• increasing self-awareness and sustaining Roma tradition and culture through promotion and development of modern Romany language education and pedagogy for Roma people; and,
• increasing tolerance and understanding towards the Roma people through promotion and development of modern Romany language education and pedagogy for non-Roma.

ACTIVITIES

We achieve our goals by carrying out the following activities:

• Specialized English as a Foreign Language courses in Civil Affairs, Administration, EU Governance, etc. for Civil Servants and other relevant target groups;
• English as a Foreign Language courses for disadvantaged and minority groups;
• English and other foreign language teacher training courses for disadvantaged and minority group teachers in the public and private sector;
• English as a Foreign Language courses for Roma;
• Specialized English as a Foreign Language courses in Civil Affairs, Administration, EU Governance, human rights, self-governance, etc. for Roma;
• EFL teacher training courses for Roma teachers in the public and private sector;
• Romany language courses for Roma;
• Romany language teacher training courses for Roma teachers in the public and private sector;
• Romany as a Foreign Language courses for non-Roma in NGOs, civic administration, and other relevant target groups;
• English and other foreign language teacher training courses for Bulgarian teachers in the public and private sector;
• English as a Foreign Language courses for Bulgarians; and,
• Curriculum development, course book writing, educational reform programmes, and other educational consultancy services and project work related to the above activities.
