Romany Language Teacher Training and Language Course Development
We have a number of projects connected to Romany language and teacher development that are currently seeking partners and funding for.
Roma Folklore
Our partners at Amalipe have created a course in Roma Folklore for public schools which has had a positive impact on Roma student retention and building cultural understanding between minority and majority communities.
To increase the effectiveness of this program we propose a multi-part project: training of trainers to increase the impact of teacher training connected to the Roma Folklore course; development of an online resource for teachers to find lesson plans, materials, and methodological support in delivery of the course; and IT training for trainers and teachers to develop and use the online resource.
Romany Language Course Development
There is currently nothing available on the market for those wishing to learn Romany as a foreign language. With the increased profile of the Roma people and growing attention from majority populations, international organisations, and European government and NGOs, we feel a modern and professional language course in the Romany language could be an attractive commercial product.
With our expertise in modern communicative pedagogy, we would be interested in collaborating with Roma organisations in developing such a course.
This would be a multi-stage project, involving initial pedagogical training for Romany language teachers, development of resources, course design, and finally marketing and promotion.
